Terra Contracting Celebrates 30 Years of Innovation
Growing Las Vegas from the Ground Down, Pioneers in Underground Utilities
Las Vegas, NV – Terra Contracting, a leading Las Vegas underground utility contractor, is proud to celebrate its 30th anniversary of providing high-quality services to public utilities and the communities of Southern Nevada. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, 96% of construction and contracting businesses do not make it to 10 years in business. From humble beginnings, Ed McSwain along with his wife Laura started Terra Contracting out of the garage with a single backhoe and have literally been building Las Vegas from the ground down for three decades.
“Grit, determination, and Ed’s sixth sense when it comes to recognizing and growing talent in our employees, has enabled Terra to grow and set the standard for innovation in the development of infrastructure, including underground utilities, structural repairs, and exploratory drilling,” says Laura McSwain, Co-Founder.
Terra Contracting has been instrumental in transforming the landscape of the Nevada utility sector, delivering groundbreaking work on many high-profile projects. They introduced game changing services such as the repair of underground utility vaults which saves public and private entities millions of dollars in replacement construction costs by strengthening their structural integrity from within. And if you have ever strolled down the iconic Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, you have witnessed another of Terra Contracting’s innovative solutions. They created a unique system used to repair and beautify the over 163,000 sq. ft. pedestrian walkway while restoring and extending its life bringing it back to its glittering glory.
Creative problem solving is Terra Contracting’s differentiator. There is little they have not encountered resulting in job site problems, and the team’s ability to solve these unique, complex problems is a huge asset that enables them to overcome unexpected elements that may appear on a job site at any given time. This is a priceless asset to their customers and the community.
Founder, Ed McSwain expresses that, “Our family owned service-oriented approach begins with employee growth and development and ends with customer satisfaction.”
“Dedication to growing our employees through continuing education and mentorship and empowering them to become leaders personally and professionally has been the principle that has perpetuated the company,” says Laura McSwain, Co-Founder.
“We are honored to reach this milestone and to have played such an important role in the evolution of Southern Nevada over the past 30 years,” says Laura McSwain. “And for the next 30 years, we have multiple directions that can be expanding at the same time, so we can stay profitable and continue to impact more lives as we grow our employee base and our communities while maintaining success through the entire process,” adds Justin Anderson, President/CEO.
